Hi! I am Yassine (Damien). I am originally from Australia and moved to live in London about 10 years ago – you understand that it was mostly a choice driven by the super climate here ;-S I started out on an infamous 4 year Ancestry visa and then decided to stay longer and queued from the early hours outside the Home Office on what I recall a bitterly cold winter morning in March 2003.
I have been working in online marketing and web development for around 12 years now and started off my career as a UI Designer in Australia for a little web development firm called Empire Ridge, that was in 1997!
Since then I have worked for a luxury mail-order catalogue called Ameea, managing an e-commerce website before the .com bubble burst and then went on to work with iVillage, TBG London, Blowfish Digital and a short stint client side. I currently work at at the leading online and offline consumer advocate in the UK, Which?
The writings on my blog are my own personal opinions and do not reflect the views of the organisation that I work for.
The last 6 years of my career have been immersed in the world of Search Engine Marketing, encompassing both paid and natural search optimisation and all facets of the art. I am also an avid reader of 2600. I guess that makes me some kind of uber geek, but you know what? I don’t mind… life could be worse
I have had the very good fortune to work with a number of very talented people along the way as well as with some super brands like Agent Provocateur, Honda, eBay, TD Waterhouse, BUPA and my personal favourite, VSO (because of what they do for developing nations).
My ambition is to continue to work with talented people, helping them realise their potential and reach their goals alongside my own continual development and learning. I am a strong believer in the adage that there is something new to learn every day and I admire those that uphold principals that secure their integrity.
